Phobia is more than an essence of fear, it is an extreme form of anxiety, an experience of a deep sense of panic of facing certain situations of daily life even when there is no danger. It can lead a person to stop stepping out of their home in fear of encountering their phobia. It can land a person to depression if the person doesn’t get the proper medication or help. It is something which should be taken seriously. Phobias and fear of various things are becoming obstacles to living a healthy life.

Symptoms of Phobia

There are various types of phobia and can feel different to everyone. The symptoms of them may vary in individual. Some general symptoms which are seen in people are anxiety or extreme fear of facing situations. The symptoms have been categorized into two parts, physical symptoms and psychological symptoms.

Common Physical Symptoms:

  • Shortness in breath
  • Chest pain and rapid rise in heartbeats
  • Shaking of body
  • Feeling of choking
  • Extreme sweating

Common Psychological Symptoms:

  1. Natural environment phobias

Natural environment phobia is fear of things that occur in nature. Sometimes if a person sees lightning or a thunderstorm in that case their phobia gets triggered and they start panicking. When the lightning hits a tree and the tree gets fire so the person develops phobias and fear of fire which is known as pyrophobia.

  1. Situation Phobias

Situation phobias are dependent on the situation or the nearby environment. It could be a crowded place or a plane ride. This phobia is commonly seen in everyone and is also known as social anxiety. They feel very difficult in being in a crowded room full of strangers and they start showing their symptoms like Shortness of breath, trembling of the body, etc. They find it difficult in expressing themselves in public places.

  1. Animal Phobias

Animals’ phobia is fear of any kind of animal or insects they see depending upon the individual. It might be a fear of a dog or lion. This phobia is typically from the experience or any situation the person would have faced that has made that person into phobias and fear. Ophidiophobia is fear of snakes and it’s generally seen in everyone.

  1. Blood Phobias

Blood phobia is the fear of seeing blood, open wounds, needles or seeing blood in any form. Some people are so scared of this they stop leaving their house in fear of getting themselves injured and that lands them with mental disorders. They always try to keep themselves in control so that they remain completely safe from getting any injury.

  1. Other Phobias

Other phobias are the fear of eating some kind of food, fear of loud noises, fear of being alone etc. It could be a normal situation with no danger but it seems very difficult for the person who has a phobia. They start feeling Claustrophobic in a building lift, they feel different being in front of a mirror because of catoptrophobia.
